The 2017 Emerald Downs Corgi Races!

August 6, 2017 was the first annual Corgi Races at Emerald Downs in Auburn, WA. Evanwhit attended in grand fashion! Back in March Grant  began a Team Evanwhit Facebook page for planning and coordination. 4 Evanwhit dogs and 1 "guest" ran under the team colors.
In the saddling paddock each dog was given their gate number on a bandana. Anwyn shows off her number at the left. It took 4 heats to run all 41 entered corgis to set up the final, championship race.
Emma, our guest Evanwhit wearing her bandana prior to heading for the track with Mom, Angie.
Emma was our "senior" racer and ran well.
Martin and Sherrie Ola-Stroebel's Ringo  out ran 39 others to place 2nd in the championship race at the end of the day and made Team Evanwhit proud! He took 1st place for best groomed, handsome young corgi and crowd favorite!   Other Evanwhit dogs in the races were Chunky Monkey and Obie. All the dogs did their turn at Corgi PR back in the barns between races allowing folks to meet them up close and ask questions.

A few of Team Evanwhit gathered at the finish line to cheer on Ringo in the championship race. Thanks to all who came and worked so hard to make it happen.

Thanks to Dave W we have a great selection of video of the races! Look for the green shirts!

Warwick Castle

Town Gate, Warwick Castle Castle Entrance Warwick Castle Guard Barb and I visited Warwick Castle today. We took the bus to Coventry, then switched buses to go to Warwick. Jan took the day off back at the B&B. What an amazing sight! It's hard to believe that anyone would build such a huge place for ANY reason. They've done a great job of presenting the castle fully furnished and decorated as it would have been "in the day"- from dungeon to state rooms. Even the smallest details- like the wood carvings on the walls was very beautiful. The first sight of the castle is pretty impressive- you walk around a corner of shrubbery and there it is- massive! It sits on the River Avon- but no moat is in evidence. I don't know if it ever had one. It doesn't appear like it now. Throughout the displays they dressed very realistic looking models in the clothes/ armor/ or tools of the period. It oftened seems like their eyes were looking at you. With the complex...
